In September 2006, The United States and Canada signed the Softwood Lumber Agreement to resolve the long standing softwood lumber dispute between the two countries. As part of that agreement, Export Permits issued by DFAIT (Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada) are required for all U.S. bound shipment of certain covered goods.

The NGJ Lumber Permit module gives softwood lumber exporters the ability to submit the required Export Permit application to DFIAT and generate the Export Permit.
